About IPOtick and our data

IPOtick tracks Indian mainboard (NSE and BSE) and SME (NSE Emerge and BSE SME) IPOs from announcement to listing: dates, price band, lot size, GMP, subscription, allotment and listing results. Every IPO page shows where its figures came from and when they were last checked.

Where the data comes from

  • Dates, price band, lot size, issue size and registrar come from exchange notices and the issuer's prospectus (RHP), as republished in structured form by InvestorGain.
  • Subscription figures are the exchange bid totals by investor category, timestamped at the time they were published.
  • Grey market premium (GMP) comes from InvestorGain's public GMP data. GMP is unofficial: NSE, BSE and SEBI do not publish or verify it.
  • Allotment results are only ever checked on the registrar's official page, or on the BSE and NSE status pages. IPOtick links you there and never shows a result it did not see.

How often it updates

An automated job checks the sources throughout the day. When something changes, the site updates straight away and each page shows an “Updated” time in IST. GMP is kept once per day, so the chart on each IPO page shows how it moved from day to day.

How figures are checked

Every run is validated before anything is published. Records with impossible values, such as a closing date before the opening date, a lot size of zero or a negative issue size, are held back instead of shown. Newer data never gets overwritten by older data, and a GMP or subscription figure that is more than a day old is marked as out of date rather than presented as current. If a source stops responding, the job fails loudly so the problem is fixed rather than going unnoticed.

How to read GMP

GMP is what informal traders are paying above the issue price before listing. It can change quickly and is not a forecast of the listing price. Use it as one signal alongside the subscription figures and the company's own financials, not as a reason to apply on its own.

Your PAN is never stored

You can save PANs for yourself and your family to check allotment faster. They are stored only on your device. For most registrars you can check allotment right on IPOtick. On the website the PAN passes through our server for that one lookup without being stored or logged; in the Android app, KFintech, MUFG Intime, Bigshare and Maashitla checks go straight from your phone to the registrar. For other registrars, IPOtick copies the PAN and opens the registrar's official page for you to paste it.

Corrections

Issuers and exchanges sometimes revise dates or figures. If anything here doesn't match the official source, the official source is right. Corrections are applied on the next refresh, and the page's “Updated” time changes when they are.

IPOtick is an information service, not a SEBI-registered investment adviser. Nothing here is a recommendation to apply for, buy or sell any security.
